Table Tennis Bat Handle
The handle is a crucial component of a table tennis bat, as it allows players to apply pressure and make micro-adjustments during gameplay. Choosing the wrong type or size of handle can hinder a player's development. There are six types of handles, but we will focus on three main types along with the Chinese handle:
Defenders typically prefer a slightly longer straight handle for more power and torque away from the table.
The size and thickness of the handle is crucial considerations. It should not be too small or too long, and the thickness should allow for proper execution of pressure on shots, primarily applied by the thumb and index finger. Sanding the curves of the handle that attach to the blade is essential to achieve a good grip.
Young players under 10 years old may need to cut the end of their handle for a more comfortable grip.
I hope this information helps you make the right choice when selecting your bat.
Until next time, Play Right.
